About Company
Barthels + Lüders GmbH was founded in 1875 as a small steel and copper forge at Steinwerder – an island in the Elbe river – just opposite the city of Hamburg.
Having recently relocated to within the precints of Blohm+Voss’ ship repair yards, Barthels + Lüders (B+L), a division of Blohm+Voss Repair GmbH, have further consolidated their activities and competencies in a brand-new, purpose-built Service Center.
This new building, located directly adjacent Dry-Dock ELBE 17 , comprises a three-storey office-block with over 1,800 m² utility floor space, a generously dimensioned spare parts store together with a two-storey workshop area facilitating the complete overhaul of even larger scale engines. The Barthels+Lüders division thus incorporates and provides all service activities occurring beyond the range of everyday yard operations.
B+L are specialised in stocking and supplying parts for major brands such as MAN, Wartsila, MTU, Perkins, Pielstick, Deutz, SKL, DMR, Sulzer and many other manufacturers. As from 01.08.2009, B+L are also the official agents within Germany for the supply and servicing of STX Europe parts and components.
All kinds of work, such as steel repairs, stevedore damage, crane repairs, exchange of anchors and chains, stripping down and rebuilding engines, machining crankshafts, replacing shaft seals or hydraulic and electrical equipment repairs, as well as paint work can be done.
We permanently stock parts for those types of engines serviced by us.
